​​Penmar Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Clinic was founded in 2019 with love, dedication, and a deep commitment to helping others by Mariama Hiestand-Saho and her dear friend and co-founder, Penda Sidibeh. Penda sadly passed away in 2024. Her passion, strength, and vision continue to live on in everything we do.

In her memory, the clinic proudly carries forward its mission -

offering essential physiotherapy and rehabilitation services as

the first clinic of its kind in The Gambia.

At Penmar, our work is guided by the desire to give back to the people and support those in need. We operate with a non-profit spirit, believing that everyone deserves access to quality care - regardless of their financial situation.

​

Together with the Swiss Penmar Association, we offer free intensive rehabilitation therapy, especially for patients recovering from strokes or other conditions who cannot afford treatment. Every contribution matters: all income from paid services and generous donations goes directly into providing free care for those who need it most.

We are more than a clinic - we are a community, a place of healing, and a tribute to the legacy of a remarkable woman whose dream was to make a difference.​
